The EUR/USD finally advance in the US afternoon, grinding above the 1.3245 resistance area after spending most of the day consolidating around the 1.3200 mark. Market has shown little interest this Monday, with stocks in the US closing the day barely unchanged, and not much fundamental data around. The hourly chart shows technical readings holding in positive territory, although with no upward momentum. Price stability above the 1.3240/50 area is required to confirm more advances, with 1.3300 as immediate resistance level to break.

The yen lost all of the ground gained against EUR and USD last week, with the EUR/JPY reaching 131.09 as daily high. The hourly chart shows price now above 200 and 100 SMAs’ with the latest still below the larger one, and indicators holding in positive territory, losing part of earlier upward momentum. Price holds near the high, with little aims to ease at the time being, while the 4 hours chart shows indicators now crossing to positive territory, which points for an upward continuation.

Pound reached the top of the range commented on previous update, trading around 1.5570 ahead of Asian opening, although lacking upward momentum at the time being. Slowly but steadily, the pair march north, with the 4 hours chart showing an increasing upward potential, as indicators have now turned flat and slowly aim higher. Short term heading towards 1.5660, the pair has potential to extend up to 1.5770 area this week, as long as the 1.5480/90 area continues to attract buyers on dip.

The USD/JPY recovery extended up to 99.27 today, with the pair holding to its gains and trading above 100 SMA in the hourly chart early Asian session. Technical readings remain in positive territory while moving averages head south, which suggest price needs to take one more step before resuming the upside: 99.50 area is now key, as the pair presents several intraday highs and lows around the level, along with 200 SMA. Once above the resistance, the pair will face selling interest in the 100.00 level.

The AUD/USD almost filled the weekly opening gap, reaching an intraday high of 0.9479 before easing some. Despite short term bullish, there’s not much room up before sellers jump back in the pair, with sellers waiting in the 0.9500 level. However, the 0.9380 support needs to give up to confirm a stronger midterm continuation now, with risk of an upward correction increasing above 0.9570 price zone.
