Draghi was not dovish enough this Thursday, leaving rates unchanged and avoiding announcing any rate moves for next month. Investors took a breath on dollar buying, and the EUR/USD finally broke above 1.3070/80 area, now immediate support. Late US afternoon saw the pair entering a consolidative stage that will likely extend over current Asian session, ahead of US employment data tomorrow. The short term double floor around 1.2965 has been confirmed and as long as price stays above the 1.3070/80 mentioned area, there’s scope for further gains: a daily descendant trend line comes around 1.3150 today, and will be the level to overcome to call for an interim bottom in the EUR/USD.

Australian dollar managed to hold to its gains against the greenback, recovering strongly from the 1.0220 level posted past Asian session, back to test recent highs in the 1.0290 area. While pressure remains to the upside, the pair is unable to clearly breach the 1.0300 mark so far. The hourly chart shows a limited bullish tone with price right above 20 SMA and indicators flat in positive territory; in the 4 hours chart, momentum diverges to the downside still but remains in positive territory.
